The Sea Garden, Varna

Varna, the second largest city in Bulgaria after Sofia, is a major tourist destination. That’s why there is a great number of the hotels in Varna which can offer you all kinds of accommodation facilities. There are many sights in this beautiful city. The Sea Garden is an emblem of Varna.

The Sea Garden is Varna’s oldest and best known public park which is located along the city’s coast on the Black Sea. It is mentioned to be favourite tourist attraction and, at the same time, a national monument of landscape architecture. The Sea Garden is the largest landscaped park in the Balkans.

The Sea Garden contains an open-air theatre, an aquarium (unique exposition of water organisms), a dolphinarium with an amusing show of talented dolphin artists (opened 1984), the Nicolaus Copernicus Observatory and Planetarium, which organizes observation seances for visitors, the Museum of Natural History, a terrarium, a zoo, an alpineum, a children's amusement park, and other attractions. The National Revival Alley, the central alley of the park, is decorated with bronze monuments to prominent Bulgarians, and the Cosmonauts' Alley contains trees planted by Yuri Gagarin and other Soviet cosmonauts in the 1960s.

It’s interesting that the beach, where you can find numerous restaurants and disco clubs, is just beneath the Sea Garden Park. The Festival Complex is located just opposite the entrance of the Sea Garden Park. It is a modern building which has several stages, conference-halls, and a big bazaar. Another interesting place is the Asparouh Bridge (the longest bridge in Bulgaria), which connects the city centre with the residential quarters of Asparouhovo and Galata.
